Xcat Auctions is not a trade only website. The majority of uses are traders, but we are happy to accept listings and bids from members of the general public too.
No, not at all. You can list pretty much anything on the site, within reason. Please be aware though that the majority of our members are trade stock buyers. So if you list your plasma TV for sale, for example, you will need to list it at a price that will encourage a trade buyer to bid.
Your listing will be live on the site instantly. Unlike some sites, you do not have to wait for a webmaster to upload your listing, or for your listing to be approved by the site admin. We do however verify all listings, and any listings that do not meet with our terms and conditions will be removed.
At the current time it is FREE to list your items for sale on Xcat Auctions. However this may not always be the case. If we do decide to introduce a small fee for selling stock through Xcat Auctions, all registered account holders will be notified of the fees by email.
We do not charge fees to buy stock through Xcat Auctions.
We have numerous different sellers, selling stock by auction so please check for any additional charges that may apply to the winning bid price, such as delivery charges, or VAT.
All listings advertised by ourselves are available to buy without making a bid. You do not need to bid on any stock that is advertised by us if you do not want to. If you are interested in any loads that are advertised on the site under the username Xcat Auctions, please feel free to contact us directly if you want to buy the load without bidding. Alternatively you can use the buy out feature which is available on most listings.
Some loads that we advertise on the site are sold prior to a bid being placed. This happens if someone contacts us directly and agrees to buy the load at an agreed price, without making a formal bid. This is possible on almost all of the loads we sell. If you are used to Ebay rules, you will be aware that this is against Ebay's terms and conditions, as it enables the buyer and the seller to avoid paying Ebay and PayPal fees. As we do not charge fees, it is acceptable on Xcat Auctions to do business in this way.
Each listing is different, so the delivery charges will vary. Please refer to each individual listing for delivery charges. If you are unsure of anything, please ask the seller the question before you bid.
Some sellers will let you collect the stock in person. You will need to refer to each listing for information on delivery or collection. If in doubt please ask the seller.
If you are unfamiliar with the process of adding a listing, dont be put off, its a really simple process to create an auction listing. If you have ever created a listing for sale on Ebay, you can easily cope with this process. However, if you are having any difficulty at all with creating your listing, please contact us and we will help you through the process. We can even create the listing for you if you wish. Just email us with your description, photos, and asking price, and we will create the listing for you. There will be a small charge for this service, which you will be advised of when we recieve your email.
Please do not bid on any auctions that you do not want to win. If you bid on an auction, and win the auction, you will be expected to complete the transaction with the seller. Action will be taken against bidders that do not complete on auctions they win. This may result in suspension of the bidder.
Please refer to each individual auction for payment options. Some sellers take PayPal, some sellers take credit cards, and some sellers will take cash or bankers draft on collection. If in doubt please ask the seller. Please note: We strongly advise against sending Western Union, Moneygram, or similar wire type payments to sellers overseas. If you are paying for stock overseas always use your credit card.
As we are a trade website, the majority of the auction prices are plus Vat. However, if we are selling stock on behalf of someone that is not Vat registered, or the listing is for sale by one of our users that is not Vat registered, then the listing will not be liable to Vat. The best advice I can give you is to ask us, or the seller, the question before you bid.
While we cannot comment for other sites, it is certainly not the case with Xcat Auctions. We have a reputation and a responsibility to our members. You can be assured that no sellers on this site will be allowed to bid up their own listings.
There are risks attached with all online transactions. We check all listings and sellers to verify if they are genuine or not. Any sellers or listings that we feel are fraudulent are removed from the site pending further checks. We have recently introduced a verification process for members. To find out more information on this please click here.
We are continually adding FAQs to this page. If you have a question that is not listed here, please use our contact form to ask your question, and we will answer you as quickly as possible. Thank you.
