What is verification and why should I get verified?

Verification is a series of checks that are done by us, to confirm that members are who they say they are.

Buying or selling online can be a risky business.

How do you know that the seller is genuine?

How do you know that they have the item for sale?

How do you know that you are not going to be scammed?

Xcat Auctions checks each listing that appears on our site, and checks every members details for discrepancies. We are proud to say that none of our members have been the victim of a fraudulent transaction in which they have lost money.

Checking listings and members details is not going to stop fraud we know that, but we have introduced a new verification process for members. This process requires the member to proove who they are, whether they are a private individual, a sole trader, or a company, it also requires them to proove either their residential address, or their business trading address.

Proofs required in verification would be.

A passport or driving licence, to verify proof of identity.

An invoice from a supplier, or a bank statement, or your company registration number, to proove trading satus. (Not required if you are a private individual.)

A bank statement or a utility bill, to provide proof of address.

It is not a compulsory requirement of our members to get verified, as we do not want to put off genuine sellers, but members will generally have more success on the site by becoming verified. You will have more trust with buyers, as they will know you have been verified by us, and they will be more likely to bid on your auctions, or contact you direct.

If you wish to become a verified member you will need to email your proofs to admin@xcatauctions.com

To enable us to verify you, you will need to provide the following.

For proof of identity. Either a passport or driving licence (both parts please).

For proof of trading status. A bank statement, or an invoice from a supplier, or your company registration number.

For proof of address. A bank statement, or a bill, with your company or personal details on.
